Acting runs in her family. She has also been associated with several Bengali projects in the past and this time too she is in the news for her latest venture NaukaDubi.
Apparently her current project which involved her to shoot in West Bengal is based on the novel by the same name of Rabindra Nath Tagore. Her director Rituparno Ghosh has a soft corner for Riya and gives in to her every demand on the sets. He insists she is like a daughter to her. The actress would be seen sharing screen space with her sister Raima Sen for the very first time although they are not playing siblings in the movie. Riya is cast opposite Jishu Sen Gupta of 'The Last Lear' fame.
